Bible Study

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Colossians 3:16 (KJV)

Ever need help studying your Bible?  Can't seem

to keep it all straight?  Don't know where to go

to get the information you're looking for?  Don't

really know how to go about it?  Not sure what

"helps" to use?  Perhaps we can help.

Where do I start?

The best place to start is with the basics:

Reading the Bible all the way through in a year.

Schedule for Reading the Bible

through in a year:

READING SCHEDULE

(There are many different schedules available)

What version is best to read?

Of course, the Authorized 1611 King James

Version has been the most popular version for

english speaking people for many years.  For

some, it is the ONLY version... no question.  For

those who prefer a variety, or perhaps a version

that is easier to understand, there are several

versions to choose from.  If you are looking for

another version, and are not sure which one is

right for you, here is a website to assist you in

making your choice.  Don't limit yourself to

one or two.  Try them all.  Ask those who you

respect what version they prefer.  Find the one

that's right for you.

pull down menu.  After making your choice,

click update.  Find the chapter of the book

you want, and click on it.)

 What does that mean?

There are many resources available that will

help "shed a little light on the subject"

Where can I find that verse?

Do you know the verse, but don't know where it's

found?  Perhaps you just know part of the verse and

would like to read it in its context of the passage.

Maybe you are doing a word study, and would like to

see all that the Bible has to say on a certain word.

What you need to accomplish this is a Bible

Concordance.  Not only can you find that word or

passage, but many concordances combine word

searching capabilities with a Bible Lexicon so you

can look up that word in the original Greek or

Hebrew (if you're into that.  Just remember, the

translators of the Bible you're reading probably had

many years of studies in Greek and Hebrew, and

you're just looking at someone else's translation of

ONE word.  A Bible lexicon is mean to aid you in

your studies, not make you a Bible translator!)
